can anyone tell me why it's better or what benifits ther is to having it on the crossover rather than the header?

thanks

Delta on x over

IMO,I see no value in doing that. The exhaust flow is going from dr to pass side to get to the turbo. Why use 1/2 of the volume for gate operation. The exh. gas from the pass. side does not reverse it's flow to exit the gate if it's on the x- over.
Secondly, most x-over mounts exhaust to the atmosphere. Want to hear it bark everytime the gate opens??
Third, the lower mount location makes for long control hoses, the gate's exposed to road dirt, water, possums, moostwangs, piles of rice..:D :D :D
Lastly, my new INNOVATIVE gate is far too "purdy" to drag thru the dirt and such..;) ;) ;)

mainly it will release the exaust from drivers side before it meets up with the exaust from the passenger side
on top of that the gate being in the turbo housing itself all the exaust from both sides has to go thru being sqeezed down to the size of the inlet of the turbo before it gets released causing more back pressure than releasing it before it all gets backed up:)

The main reason to NOT put it on the crossover is that the smooth flow of exhaust gases is totally interrupted.

A rule of thumb I use is.....

Look at the cars of those who go really fast....do what they do and don't do what they don't.

Shhh! Deltagates should not be seen or heard! :-) Mine is under there, and plumbed back into the exhaust. Not nearly as purdy as Chuck's gate for sure! But no gate appearing under the hood looks less cluttered IMO. Works well for me.

X-over gate location

RHA, The question was to put it on the x-over or on the header?. I saw no mention of it being in the turbo hsg.... How many big turbo users do we see using the internal turbo gate? I've not.

I agree w/ Chris on this one... Even if he did beat me to the 9's!!!   J/K!!

The reason for using a Deltagate in the crossover had more to do with the fact that one Deltagate at the turbo would not control boost properly.

That is why there were those who put one in the crossover as well. It was more of a boost control issue than it was anything else.

I have a dual set up on my car and it works just fine.

I am using a 60-1 turbo and it is only at that point that we ran into surge problems using the 60.

The second wastegate is mounted on the drivers side and I ran a dump pipe to dwonpipe right before it goes in to the catalytic converter.

Now you can one big wastegate, mount it at the header and it will control boost all you want. '
