Who's got the best "turn-key" transmission(200R4)? I'm thinking of replacing mine.Tired of pulling the stupid thing in and out. I want one that will stand up to 700hp (or more) and not have to worry about something breaking or slippage. I'd like to buy one straight out and slap in the car. This is in a VERY strong street car. I'd also like to be able to take it to the strip and not worry about it. I want to put it in "D" and drive it like I stole it!

2004r

Hi,
I don't know of a good 200 4r trans that can stand the test, so to speak. The best I can think of is one by Century trans, out of Houston, TX.
Dale

I don't think you will find a 200-4r that you will "never have to worry about again" if you have over 700 hp. At that power level nothing lasts forever. JMO However I don't think anyone builds a better one than Lonnie Diers.

Bruce Toulle ( Performance Transmissions ), Vince Janis ( Janis Transmissions ), and Mike Kurtz ( Century Transmissions ). All use Bruces hard parts. Take your pick according to your location. I had Vince build mine, and believe me---if Vince or Bruce can't make it live, NOBODY can. Service from both of these men is 2nd to none. They are all board sponsors. Brian

You cant go wrong with us either.we dont use anyones parts but our own, billet inpuit shaft and drum included .If your looking for a serious street strip or race piece you found the right place.all transmissions are in car tested prior to shipping .No nonsense or propoganda.if you want something unique see our aod hybrid overdrive transmission in april turbo and hi performance magazine.720 REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER .3500 WITH CONVERTER TRANSBRAKE AND 1 YEAR WARRANTEE.

SEE OUR AOD HYBRID IN TURBO AND HI PERFORMANCE APRIL ISSUE.720 REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER.STOP PLAYING AROUND .

fuelie600 i think that you are seriously a blowhard. If you think that they are the only that can build a transmission you are DEAD WRONG. Do yourself a favor and dont post if you dont know what the fuk you are talking about because even pts, century and janis would think your an ass kisser from seeing this post.

i find it funny how a senior member would refuse to acknowledge our strength and presence on this forum and the reality of the success of our products.anyhow im not offended i just needed to add myself to the list.and with over 400 billet drums in service and close to 15 2004rs a month being sold nationwide each month we certainly deserve to be attached to this thread.and for those who doubted the aod sucess ,weve hit the 7s with them with all year reliability.so forget brand loyalties and give respect to those who have also contributed to the automatic hall of fame.for those who have supported us through product purchases and those who have benefitted from our technical information as well as our presence here,we are humbled.

Chris, I don't think it would be cost beneficial for me to switch at this point to an AOD. I could be wrong...I'd prefer to keep the 200 if I can get one that will hold up. That's what I'm really looking for. By the way, how much $ for the AOD kit?

the aod is stronger because of the ravigneaux gear train, the user of a multiple disc cluch pack verses a band for second gear, input shaft that is 3 times as thick, better metallurgy, lighter internal clutch drums, three times the clutch capacity in third gear (with reverse high valve body)and a more favorable gear ratio for racing and traction.

I didn't buy a complete unit. I just re-used my original case and everything else is basically CK billet parts and I'm very happy with it. Not sure how much power I'm putting down but its a pretty strong daily driver.

Not kissing any ass here. Just had a good experience with CK so I figured I'd recommend it.
