hey guys tax money is coming in soon and i am planning on getting a stage 2 trans with a trans break from extreme automatics and am going to also be getting a converter to get away from my stock trans and converter. it is a 87 gn and is mostly going to be used just in town and at the track and im trying to get it into the 10s this summer. should i get lock up or non lockup and what stall do you guys think? i have a 57mm turbo and a all forged motor and ported heads and intake and a custom roller cam i really have no idea which is the best converter for my setup so any help would be great. anything else you need to know about my setup to help me out just ask as i have not yet put anything on my sig about my setup. thanks in advance everyone.

I would get more turbo and match a non-lockup ptc converter from dusty bradford to it. Are your goals high 10's or lower? Get ahold of bison on here for a turbo recommendation if you decided to go that route. There's a lot of different ones to get you to your goal both new and old school. With the 57mm all you would need is a ptc 10' 2600-2800 lockup converter to really wake it up.

If you plan to stick with this turbo and dip into the 10.90's a 10" 2800 lock up will work well. If you think you'd like to push a little deeper into the 10's with a larger turbo, the 9.5 non lock would be my choice. Either will drive really well on the street, the 9.5 will deliver better spool and efficiency when using a larger turbo like a 62mm.

i would like to move up to a bigger turbo sometime soon but do not have the money for a new turbo yet so do you think i would be okay with running my 57mm with a 9.5 non lock for a season until i can get the bigger turbo. and by okay i mean like mid 11s for this season and then trying for the mid to low 10s when i get a bigger turbo.

10" 3000 lock up. Built loose
All u will ever need . Nice tranny cooler
A 9.5" will heat up your trans if u like to drive the car on the street

Yes you can grow into a converter. For mid 10's I'd go with a 9.5 non lock. The heating issue with a non lock isn't a problem any more like it was 15 years ago.
