Best exhaust for the Hot Air?

What is the best upgrade for a hot air? Ive seen Borla, and flowmaster, and dnyomax, but what gives the best? What is the best combo for the $?

if your a guy thats on a budget and just needs a decent exhaust that flows better then a stocker, i would say
check out the, Hooker cat-back exhaust system
the system is 2.5 diameter and inclues 2 turbo mufflers
it would run ya about $285 thru www.jegs.com

if your one of these guys that just has to have stainless, then i would suggest getting a catalog from ATr preformance, but be prepared to pay thru the ass for it. U wont nuthing for under $500 in that catalog
i dont see the point in stainless, cuz my car is seasonal and dont get wet unless i wash it !

the hooker system, is a nice stock replacement, it really wont make yer car sound any more intimidating with those mufflers on it
SO if u are looking for volume, id suggest different mufflers, cuz this system keeps your car pretty darn quiet !@

I like the single shot 3inch exhaust system, it runs well, and sounds pretty mean. Look at ATR, buy it once and be done with it. Matt Wenning

ATR gets my vote and they don't just sale stainless you can opt for the regular exhaust.? This is actually set up for the car and yes might run a bit more (I prefer stainless, like the above post says, buy it once) but they are well worth the money and customer support is A-1, call and ask for Sherry. She's the best person to talk to there. Don't go with a flow master you will actually restrict the car, we gained almost 3 tenths disconnecting this on the 87. Atr is sweet and well worth the investment....

Hmmm

I was wondering if ATR had a web site, or were I could get a catalogue. I am looking to get a good grunt out of the car, but I dont want to set off any car alarms. I am also looking for the Y-dump pipe, where you can split to open ex, or go through the car. I can get that pipe easy, but the rest of the ex is where I dont know where to look. do poston or kenne sell any good ex components? What are the best mufflers?

http://www.atrperformance.com That should work, i've heard good things about their exhaust stuff. I just went to a local shop an had them do one for me. Only took a few hours instead of waiting days for the parts to arrive.

I did a little research on the Hooker cat back and the pipes are all mandrel bent, quite a deal for the money. I understand the muffs flow quite well also. Problem with a local exhaust guy is that he will charge more than the Hooker setup, plus the pipes won't be a true 2.5 threw the entire pipe( if you go with a 2.5? A lot of local shops don't do bigger pipes), this might be splitting hairs , but flow was important to me.

my car has a mandrel bent dual 3" system....think its a torque tech...very nice exhaust...but the prev owner put flowmasters on it eventually ill swap them but for now i got a 3" dump

Poston's sells the Hooker system also.
Flow is the key, low restriction and low back pressure. Your not going to get madrel bent pipes from the normal exhaust shops. If money is an issue the Hooker system is a good deal and install them your self. If you wind up going to an exhaust shop, at least try to get a good free flowing muffler like an Ultraflow (made by Walker I think). They may not understand what is best for your car and try to sell you on something like a Flowmaster (great mufflers......for a Chevy). Ask to see the muffler(s) they offer and look through it to see if its free flowing.

who has hooker?

Any body got a hooker system to tell me about? I am looking to get the most out of the turbo, and the best off the line for the value. DOes anyone use the hooker system? Is ATR the best route?

ATR gets my vote as well. I have the cat back and was very pleased with it. I just ordered the headers, crossover and up pipe. Still waiting for it. I cant wait.
