You should talk to Lee about making headers and downpipes again :)

That will never happen again.....the last few times he did that, everybody wanted the parts until it came time to actually fork over the money, then they all disappear....

Bigdaddy- I know there is a market for better headers and downpipes for Hot Airs. Lee should reconsider it only under the terms prepaid first and jack up the price so that it is worth his time. I bet he could sell them and make money. People will pay because there is no other manufacturer for downpipesand on Poston for the headers. Just my 2 cents. Brad

I agree with Brad, there's a lot of need for parts designed for our cars.

Who wouldnt buy a nice 3" downpipe for his or her hot air?
I'd love the performance gains it would produce, not to mention the time I could save and trips to the muffler/machine shop.
I'd surely buy one!!!

This is the problem we are all facing since ATR went out of business. It was crippling to us. At this point I am simply trying to get mine to the point were it is as good as I can get it then start buying parts for my 86/87 conversion. Simply put the 84/85 is just to limited because of where that turbo is mounted....

I really understand your point, I was already thinking about the IC setup, but Ive seen some possibilities since I became registered here. You've all given me some good tips and advice, and I really think this setup, with all its limitations, can be a great power producing force. Now more than ever I'm set on my 500+ rwhp daily driver.

I know the downpipe thing is a huge limitation, but what if we start looking at different types of turbochargers?

I'm planning to run my stock/ported turbo until I save enough for a custom one. , I don't mean to disrespect all the turbos out there and people using them, but i know there's more out there than TE-4 somethings and things like that. I know I'll have to build somethings to make it fit, but then I'll have the chance to build a downpipe from scratch and share it here. That's my goal at this point.

Who knows, maybe in the future we'll all be running 3" turbo-back exhausts, or even 4". It all depends on how bad we want it, and how much we help each other with ideas and our own experiences.

Thanks,
Joel

I hear ya. In fact, I think the downpipe I bought was actually made for someone else that backed out.

I just had my 2 1/5 inch downpipe modified to fit my hot air and it makes huge difference. I can spin the tires from a daed stop with only spooling up to 1500 rpm and not really getting on it. I stlll have to really test and post on Tuning with the Alky kit. I am at 16lbs boost with room to go up. I did get a tip on a local guy who maybe able to make a 3 inch downpipe. I stop by there tomorrow. Brad

downpipe, maybe he still has something .
anyone know anything on that?or maybe he just havent updated his site.

Stay away from Hooker headers. I doubt they still have them anyway. They are the down and under type and all I've heard is horror stories of terrible turbo lag. They add close to 5' of exhaust piping.

The turbo really isn't the issue the hot airs require less boost....really getting rid of that damn elbow is the real issue here. Could always put a cowl on the hood and run as big a turbo as you want. I think what is pushing me towards the intercooled 87 setup is the support. Everything is readily available for those cars.

Can you post the link to this site??? and is his DP 3" with wastegate????
