despite cost which is best for a daily driven street car, a V4 or V4-R? i think i heard one hangs too low for stret use, am i correct?

I know you may not be looking for this answer, but I LOVE MY COTTON FRONT MOUNT IC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it is very streetable becuse the end tanks are moved out of the way of the radiator. I have a Be Cool, but I really think that you could get away with just a fan upgrade and keep the stock radiator. Jack is the man, sells only good $hit that works. He knows, has tryed it all himself!!!!!!!!

a front mount would be over kill for my application but i do like his intercooler. ive seen pics and it looks nice. a bit too pricey for me though. any other suggestions?

Is a front mount out of the question? I do not like stock location IC. I would not put the money down to put a stock one in. It is cool if you or others like it, just not for me, my $0.02. If you can't go with the Cotton because of the money, how is $795 for the Precision Turbo & Engine Front Mount?

the truth is i was just wondering what everyones opinions/facts are on the stock location pieces are. i dont have the money for anything right now but was just curious what everyone thought. when the time comes though my financial situation may have changed by then and i could afford a front mount but if it doesnt i would go w/a stock location upgrade. i just wanted to know which is better for all around performance, streetability, ground clearance, daily driving, etc a V4 or V4-R?

I would say the V4 has more clearance, but don't know 1st hand. By the way I'm not trying to rain on your parade, not having the money for toyz SUCKS!!!!!

For the price and performance the V4 cant be beat,Even for a 10 sec car. I have several friends that have the V4 installed and were about to order another for other car.

Front mounts around here sux , take it from me.There were only a few of us in the central Fl area that have been running front mounts for a while. At that time there was no V4 . It is my understanding that the V4R doesnt have a clearance problem at the bottom as many suspect. I remember some one saying that the extra rows are added to the top?

In the end, it all comes down to what your budget allows, and what your end goals are. I've recently upgraded to a CAS V2, simply because I found a used one for a great price. Before it, I was running a BGC Stretch Stock location, which hung down lower than a V4 or V4R, but I was still very happy with its performance! I gained a solid 3-4 tenths decrease on 1/4 mi. times, and it pulled hard with it on the highway! The V4 is comparable to this, and does retain the advantages of a stocker type daily driven application, in that, you don't have to worry about overheating the car with it. And as mentioned, many people have run well into the 10's with this setup and the BGC version. I have a friend running 10.6's with his BGC currently, in Houston heat.
My suggestion on such items is to always search the classifieds on this board, and gnttype.org Turbo Trader section, or E-Bay. I've bought many great hand-me-downs like intercoolers, etc, and the price has always been right! I sold my BGC stretch for $500 including an electric 12" fan inside the shroud. There are often good deals out there,,, you just have to look for them.

Any of these will be a major upgrade over your stocker...

How fast do you want to run? If you are on a real tight budget just throw a Duttwieller neck on your stock intercooler until you can afford the I/C that you want to get. I was toying with the idea of upgrading but after much thought about putting out almost a grand for a new intercooler decided that the Duttweiller neck is good enough for me for now. Besides, I am almost to the 11's and don't want to put a rollbar in the car.:)
