What new turbo will give me the best street manners/power/ mileage with a new 3200 stall PTC LU converter? Would a T-70 BB work well with a 3200?

Hmm, you are kinda going backwards. Normally the converter is spec'ed to the build and not the other way around. Any idea what combo the converter was built for?

It's for a friends car, it has a stock longblock-39K miles on the car, I came across a good trade that involves me getting a new PTC 3200 lock up converter, i will also be putting in a TT chip for 60 lb injectors, a new pump and hot wire for fuel pump so I'm trying to figure out which turbo to match up with the converter-I have a spare TE-60 with 63 housing and also a Garret 63 housing.

throw that 60 with the bigger ex housing on there and see how it feels.

Thats what i was thinking but the wastegate hole is ported for a external wastegate and the garret isnt which i think will be too small.

My $.02

I had the PTC 3200. It was way too loose on the top end. If I would have asked Dusty before I ordered... I would have been all set.:p

My PTC 3200 flashed at 4700rpm. When I shifted out manually at 5900rpm it only dropped 350rpm to 5550rpm on shifts. My new converter flashes at 3200rpm.. manually shift out at 5900rpm then drops to 5100rpm. :D Perfect for setup!!!

IMHO, I think you should send that converter back to Dusty and have it restalled and refreshed. I won't go any higher than 2600-2800 with this 10" lock-up unit.

A 3200 stall is not a good match with a stock cam. They need to shift way to early. A good combo for a stock cam car is something like a 2600-2800 stall with no larger than a 61 or 62 DBB turbo. If using a journal bearing turbo, the TE-44 is good.

When you put a converter that stalls over 3000 with a stock cam, there is not enough room between the flash stall and the shift point for the converter to couple.

Dusty-so a TE-60 with a Garret .63 housing would be a good match for a 2600-2800 10" lock up converter with stock cam? If so I d go with that.

..

JP112_89 what converter did you go with?

9X11 3000 stall

Should have added that I have a Comp Cams 210 Roller Cam/6262 turbo. This is why I manually shift higher on RPM. 5800-5900 is great for 1/2 2/3 shifts for my setup.

If I would have listened to Dusty... I would have gotten it right the first time without spending more $$$.

Yes, a TE-60 is as large of a journal bearing turbo that I would go with a 2800 stall.
