I don’t like whats been happening in the for sale section lately.

Every other thread is either “I’ll take best offer” or “here is the item on my ebay auction”

What nonsense is this?

I think the parts for sale section should be handled like the cars for sale section.

YOU MUST LIST A PRICE!

and if you are going to peddle your ebay auction it shouldn’t be allowed in the for sale section.

You should have to put it in the EBAY section on here.

Mods, please do something about this. It’s out of hand I’m my opinion.

Especially the best offer crap. I read that and bail instantly.

When i see a “check my ebay listing” thread i exit it immediately as well regardless if i need it or not.

I'm with you on this. The guy with the pair of precision front mounts is the one that gets me. I was actually interested in one until I read he's fishing for offers. Not the way business should go down here, imo.

No I'm just not a whiner. If you don't like how someone does business don't do business with them. Why clamp regulations and restrictions on everything?
Freedom, Liberty, 'Merica.....

It just means more people on the "do not buy from list"...Mike

No whiners here. Just guys that wanna buy parts without guessing how much it's gonna cost. Pretty simple concept, really.

I guess you're right not whiners just some socialist mindsets who want regulation, controls, and restrictions on a free market.

Yes capitalism bad comrades......

Steve,
The problem with the 'best offer' and 'auction' sales in the 'For Sale' section is that you have people who prefer not to have to bid on an item. They just want to pay an asking price. The bidding game takes a long time to play especially when you need or want the item listed pronto. There are auction sites and forums in place that cater to these types of sales. A 'For Sale' site/forum caters to a different crowd. Both crowds are entitled to do business their way, however when the 'auction' crowd moves into the 'For Sale' crowd's forum then you have effectively left the 'for sale' crowd nowhere to conduct their business the way they prefer.

Once upon a time OBO 'or best offer' meant if the asking price wasn't met that the seller would take the offer that came closest. It wasn't to see how much more the seller could get above the asking price. All that means is that the selling price is a 'reserve' which sounds like an auction to me.

I think it would be FREAKING GREAT to make it mandatory to list a price on the parts in the Parts For Sale forum.

no because that section is for items that are actually listed on Ebay, not the ones listed here.

Nothing wrong with that but it's your decision…

Exactly. (y) You can't blame a guy for wanting to get as much money for the parts he sells as possible. That's business, like it or not.

Yep! …we're the "bad" capitalists……but seriously, it all comes down to what you said in your previous post: "If you don't like how someone does business don't do business with them" and move on to the next ad, simple as that! ;)

I'm not arguing anything. That would be pointless. All I'm asking is for folks to do their business however the hell they want in the forums/sites that are set up for them and their form of business.

I'm out.

So the mods that said a price is required for all cars in the "cars for sale" forum are all socialists? If they have the price rule in the cars section, why not parts too?

Perhaps you socialists would like to make up a parts price list too to regulate what people can charge.....

What everyone wants is the feeling they have gotten good value for their money. When you see the price listed it is a visual property of the item that can help decide if the item is a good value or not plus you have a baseline for a beginning negotiation . With an auction/open offer sale you have a bit of uncertainty. "What if my first offer is so out of the park it makes the seller mad and I lose the part or what if it is more than they are wanting and I overpay? Plus what if the seller is less than honest about his offers or has a "shill bidder" to run the price up. I've found a lot of times you pay more at an auction than you would on a straight out sale. I prefer to know up front what I'm paying. Doesn't mean I won't buy from flea bay but I usually feel better about posted price deals.

But what really gets me are people who say "Add 3 percent if paying with paypal". Com'on, you're selling over the internet so it probably won't be a face to face cash sale. If you are really not willing to take $97 for a used part you advertised for $100 then price it for a $110 to start with. Tell me you'll cut a couple dollars off the price or give free shipping etc. You still get your money but the buyer will feel like you did him a solid. Personally though it would be worth the $3 to me not to have to go to the bank to cash a check or money order.

Evil is right. List the Damn asking price. If you want to play stiff the stupid bidder ebay it. I have not yet been successfull buying gn parts on flea bay unless there's a buy now price. I have watched morons bid on used parts and pay the same as new. That's plain stupid and we don't need that nonsense here!
