Best oil for fresh engine?

I have 500 miles on my new engine. I have used 10w40 Valvoline for the first 500 miles. I want to start using Mobile One. Is it OK to use 15w50 Mobile 1 for an occasional driver 2000 miles a year?Is it to early to change to a synthetic blend?

i would use something a little thinner than 15-50
something like 5-30

What is you oil pressure at hot idle in gear with the 10-40?
If above 20 psi, then I would use Mobile 10-30.
Below 20 I would (& do) use 15w-50.

Some will say the thicker oil takes more HP to pump, but no one says how much. i.e. 1hp, 2 hp etc. I prefer to see oil pressure above 15 psi.
This is just my 2 cents.
