Since I don't have an 87 tranny and I don't think the rebuilders will take an 85 BQ as a core my options seem to only be a rebuild kit and have a local guy do it. I e-mailed one of the most popular builders but still haven't got a response and I need this taken care of a.s.a.p. I would like to get an already built bulletproof tranny but have no BRF core to send in. What is the best rebuild kit to get? I've torn out several trannies in the last few years and am not sure what is killing them...other than a heavy right foot. I want a kit that will make my 85 GN tranny live behind @ 500 hp/ 500 ft/lbs. I know I'll need a billet servo. I already have a shift kit that I guess can be re-used. I had a wider 2nd gear band installed the last time it got rebuilt but it didn't hold up long after my engine rebuild. It went from chirping the tires to sliding into gear even under light throttle. I just want to get it done right this time. What kit and options should I get? I want to chirp the tires on all shifts but not neck-snapping jerks. This is my daily driver and constant neck-jerking would be annoying after a while. I just want it to hold up this time.

a transmission for that power level thru us would be 1949,and we do accept the bq trans as a core.some times repetitive failures can be caused by the slightest thing that is overlooked due to the fact that you dont build as many as us or the others here who specialize in the 2004r.this doesnt mean it cant be done.we do offer an overhaul kit for the trans and furnish much technical support to the buick community in regards to the 2004r.we will help you out in diagnosis also.anyhow,we are working night and day to finish up our manual so all of you out there can do these at home, and enjoy the procedure.

Would that be $1949 shipped?:D J/K, I'm sure shipping would add another Ben Franklin to the cost. If I sent you my 85 BQ tranny and the cost to have yours shipped to me would I receive a fully built 87 tranny? Maybe the 85 tranny in my 87 has something to do with the odd timing of the shifts at WOT.
