Who is running low elevens with stock heads, on there street car? And what turbo is best for the job? Would like to hear some experiences with low 11 second street turbo's.

My strip only T does 11.2s at 26 PSI or so on bone stock heads, not even valve springs, uses a TE63E. Harry Hruska felt this turbo is about as big as makes sense with stock heads. In other words, the TE63E completely uses up the flow capabilities of the stock heads. I also spoke to John Craig about this very same subject, particularly whether a TE45A made any sense. He made it crystal clear that a TE45A was out of the question for stock heads.

Now, a million guys will chime in saying they run a dual BB, liquid cooled, 108 on the street with lithium wheels, with stock heads.

BTW, low 11s on the street with stock heads. I'd bet you could count the folks who've done this, if any, on one hand.

:D

Your prolly right but i was thinking razors alky kit would help some.

119 mph this past mon, at Budds Creek, MD. We had a track rental day with All Buick powered cars, Cal Hartline flew up from FL. Good times! I expect some much better times soon. I have only had this car a couple of months. It was bone stock, chip and all, 9000miles, never in rain or even washed since 1987. Of course it is not bone stock anymore, but the motor and heads are still OEM, no porting. Got the front wheel off the ground with stock suspension, all 1987 stuff! I'm doing a cheap build, little=alot!:D

Timing ?

Transbreak ?

Weight ?

I agree with the one hand count statement. ;)

High 11's and maybe mid 11's is doable in true street trim. :)

My car is full weight, a/c, all steel. Yes I have a T-break, only $180. Best bang for buck! I was also using 28" slicks, thats how I get 1.51 60'. I use methanol in my alky sprayer. Red armstrong 108 chip, and direct scan to get tuned. Going for 10s! ;)

Thanks for the clarifications. :)

One last question.

Are you able to use the 108 chip successfully in normal everyday driving?

Or do you use another chip for that?

Assuming you do some of that type driving of course. ;)

No way, Red Armstrong asks customers what type of boost you plan on running. Then when your MAF reaches a reading of 255, (Around only 19psi) the computer is finished reading all the air it can, so at that point, a chip needs to take a guess and dump in fuel. It will be only one amount of fuel added beyond the 255 reading of maf. Red's 108 chip that i have goes up to around 120% injector duty cycle at this point for my chip and combo. So if you run less than, say 28psi, you will be rich, way rich. After around 19psi, the computer has no idea how much air is going into motor. Get a race chip, tell Red what boost you want to run, tell him your combo, and start off rich. If you have no knock, and are running rich, crank up the boost. you cannot change the WOT fuel delivery. After 255 MAF, there will be only a guess, based on RPM, and what ever you tell the chip burner. You need to fine tune with fuel pressure, or adding/subtracting alky injection for fuel, or play with the amount of air by lowering/raising boost. there will be only a small range of optimum performance. For me, it begins around 27psi with no alky, then if I want more power, I need to add fuel somehow, and raise boost to match. I add fuel by raising fuel pressure, putting a larger jet in my 7th shooter, or adding more alky ( I actually use racing methanol). If you want to go on the street, You need a street chip, then if you want to do a little street racing, raise the boost like 7psi, and turn on an alky system to add fuel, and octane, also cools charge air some.

Talk to Red Armstrong, he is very nice about spending time to explain this.

Check out Stangbanger's sig.

Thanks for the other clarification. :)

I just race one tune which is an alky. chip that works for about 100 octane, a bit slower but less work in daily driving and racing.

Only play with the boost a bit at the track not much else.

High 11's is about it on the stock motor and DOT's for me.

No transbrake. ;)

Probably could get a 11.7 or 11.6 if I could 60 ft. and run 1-2 more psi. :)

pt 54 11.0 to 11.70 depending on et street or drag radials and also how good the e brake holds . 42.5, red chip, atr down pipe, big mouth intercooler and prob the best part was the vigalante coverter.thier were also a few more odds and ends. I drove this car to work the beech any place I had to go without a trailer or over 20lbs. of boost . may be just lucky but only tools required for oil changes .Must be the air . good luck on finding a combo for your self . if the the buyer doesn't come up with the dough it will be for sale .

I saw a pt51 with an atr down pipe and hooker exhaust front mount 25 pounds of boost with stock heads cam block and headers run an 11.03 at 122 last weekend

they are right

you'll be hard pressed
ill never say you cant but it would prolly take alot of tuning and the car would realy whether sensitve.
put this way the best i have gotten with a ta 49 smc alky kit 2800 stall was 11.70"s and that was on 30 lbs. of boost and it was very sensitve to conditions.

Correction:

My GN has a stock block, stock heads (never been off), but has a comp cams 206/206. Otherwise its stock, no porting, no port matching, no nothing.

Combo is PT51, Powerstroke FMIC, MSD 50s, ATR DP with Delta Gate, Walboro 340, Adj Reg, etc etc. Im running a Eric Marshall Race Chip, 110 Octane, 25psi of Boost. Im leaving off the Ebrake about 10-14psi or so with the converter locked on 28x9" ET Drags. Trans is Art Carr with an Orange Crush 3000 stall.

Fuel is at 44-45 static, boost is pretty solid around 24-25psi, and I manually shift the 2-3 between 5100 and 5400rpm. If I dont it short shifts bad.

Front suspension is stock with no bar, and 90/10s.

Rear suspension has stock boxed uppers and lowers, air bags, and a snubber.

So far its run a bunch of 11.20s, a few 11.teens, and the one 11.08 in the sig. Im having trouble getting the launch down, (READ: consistancy) But what do you expect on the e-brake, lol. Anyway, best pass is below, going for 10.90s tomorrow in cool air *hopefully*.

Are you just spinninng off the line? Leaving at 10-14psi with only a 1.59 60'? I get a 1.51 @only 8psi launch. But I wish I had a more efficient converter for top end MPH, maybe my loose converter is what helps me to launch.
