SignUp Now!i ran and am still using practically the same setup as you. except Im using a te-60, and a hr bar setup in the rear end. my best was 11.49 @ 119 . I thing the car spools pretty good with the stock converter and i drive it daily. I used a ta 49 before making the swap ,and the car pull was night and day.big difference i found between the two turbos, Id suggest trying 1 if you can find a used 1, thats what i did and im happy with it for now till the funds come up for the 10's
Not to hijack but jamier, are you running the stock d-5 and 42.5's with a te-60? If you are check my sig for mods and compare with yours. If it's similar then you may be able to help me out as well. Mine is a true daily driver too but I'm way down on et and mph (13.0 @108) from what you are. I drive it to the track, run it, and drive it home so I don't tune it up for race day or touch the boost. These times were on pump gas (no alky) at 19 psi. I know some of it is the hard compound tires (best 60', 2.10) but I always assumed that most of it was because of the stock converter that I wasn't deep in the 12's at 110+. If you're that deep into the 11's and touching 120 then it might not be my converter.
What boost are you running? How about at stage? I have no problem brake boosting but I can't come off any harder than about 2200 rpm and 2-3 psi or I overpower the brakes and spin. Everybody else that I know running a TE-60 has a 2800 or better converter and you're about the only one I've seen pulling those times with a stock one. Do you lock and when? Did the ATR rear bar help. I've got alky now so upping the boost is do-able and that should help mph. I've got a unkown chip now but hoping to get a tt alky chip soon. My car is great for a daily driver and I was always afraid if I put a higher stall in it it would loose just a little driveability. I don't want that but I do want as much out of it as possible and if I can get it with the stock d-5 I'd be happier than a pig in mud.
On the positive side any lag from a roll acts like traction control on the street.![]()
Thanks
scojack 2001,nice times on the stock turbo!i never had the patience to push the stocker that fast but i didn't make the same mistake with the ta49.the 3255e is said to support 520 horse, the 44 580 horse and 850cfm,the 61 varies depending on which one.the kicker is all those turbo's work so it's just a matter of preference in my opinion.some believe in overkill, some believe in just enough turbo to get there goals accomplished.working on a budget i would recommend a slightly used turbo since it its cheaper,a good converter, and the spare $ buying a wideband to dial it in carefully!
Most people are upgrading and getting rid of the Old School journal bearing Te44s,49s as well as other models and going with the quicker spooling BBs. 44s and 49 are a great turbos and I've seen em for usually 400-450 used. Picked up a Te 44 for 250 from TurboTerry i was blessed  to get it for that price he was asking was shocked Just Happened to see the ad and jumped on it immeadiately before anyone else talk about luck, wasn't in the market cause of cash flow but saw it for 250 and told/askedthe old lady that it was such a great deal and she concurred. It's nice to move more air.
and to have an understanding spouse. So I Usually check For-Sale section daily as there are always good deals ya gotta jump on them I try and buy used. Was fortunate also to get a translator with a 3.5" LS1 MAF from notacarlo for a vey reasonable price as he was upgrading to a MAFless system. Have got to thank these gentlemen as they were generous and this po' boy was able to upgrade. A Te 44 and translator/3.5ls1 maf and new TTchip for just under 5 bills. just stay on top of the classifieds you'll find a Te44 or other model for a reasonable price alot of guys are going bigger, once your addicted to Boost you need more of the daily Boost allowance you've gotten used to. Man if I could afford it I'd buy Bryan's 63 and sell you the 44 but right now I'm happy with the power level and with the old technology, plus I just bought a hydroboost setup so I can stop this Led Sled. You'll find one good luck...
Thanks for all the replies guys. Callmebryan, thanks for the offer on the turbo. I'd love to upgrade, but Ive got some trans issues I gotta take care of first. If I get some cash, I'll let you know. I was only hoping to spend between $400-500 on a turbo, but we'll see.
200-4Rs dont like me...
BTW, Ive never even heard of a PT63...![]()
