Does anyone know of a good vinyl/rubber protectant that will not only shine but protect the rubber as well. I have heard several people say Armor All which I believe has silicon in it is bad. I have heard that you want something water based and not silcon based. Anyone have any brands you prefer? Thanks.

Armor-all is gross. It leaves an unnatural greasy gloss, and over time it leaves a dirty, brown permanent stain on the rubber (or at least , it used to, I swore it off years ago).

My preferences for exterior rubber:
3M Rubber Treatment and Tire Dressing , catalog # 39042.

For interior vinyl:
3M Leather and Vinyl Cleaner - Restorer, catalog # 39040.

generally found only at professional autobody suppliers, somewhat pricey, but worth it IMO. Lately Amazon.com has been selling some 3M products. http://www.autobodydepot.net/ is another supplier.

303 for best UV sunscreen!

Probably the best stuff available for UV sunscreen protection is a product called 303. It is used in the RV and boating field for the long lasting and excellent protection for vinyl, rubber and other plastics exposed to sunlight.

Check with a local boat or RV dealer that usually handles it.
