best way to polish stainless steel?

Like say a set of headers an downpipe, what's the best way to polish them up? Using what tools an what grit of sand paper , should I sand blast first? Thanks

Get a kit from eastwood it has the compounds and wheels

get them coated.....if you drive the car much its just gonna discolor and polishing s/s is a pita!

I used wd40 and the fine steel wool. Made it look like the stainless steel refridgerators for a little while.
