some of my plastic parts could use a fresh coat of grey but is there any paint that will actually last and not peel off if something rubs on it?

Duplicolor Plastic and Interior Paint works great.

You just have to make sure the pieces you're painting are absolutely clean. That means pulling them and washing them several times with a grease cutting dish soap, drying them with compressed air, and then wiping them down with rubbing alchohol.

Once you do the cleaning, you may find they don't need paint after all.

I used

TSP- Tri Sodium Phosphate, available at most hardware stores---
Also use an adhesive promoter like Bulldog---
Most trim was painted with a Lacquer based paint which actually "burns" into the trim---
Let it cure for at least 48 hours and u should do well

There are some vendors here that offer the "correct" grey, but yes the secret is in the prep work. My routine is first lightky scuff with a scotch brite hand pad, dish soap and thoroughly rinse, and once that dries either the Bulldog or SEM pretreatment. Also spray in several thin coats, allowing at least 30 minutes in between coats and let them completely cure for 24-48 hours before reinstalling.

I thought the gray is in the plastic.. NOT painted  I'd get nicer plastic.. I did tan panels for my new TTA in 1990 when we put a roll bar in the car. (kept the original pieces).. didn't take much of a beating
