This might sound stupid by the time you go out and buy seats you've spent some dough. I know the Tempur-pedic bed company sell mattresses but they also sell a 2" cover for those who can't afford a mattress. They sell pillows and pads, toppers also thru Brookstone. You may consider getting hold of a topper made of space-age memory foam, there are a few other companies that make basically the same type material.(seen them for 200).. Have a Upholstery shop reupholster the passenger seat with that special micro memory foam for your wife. That way it'll mold/form to her body and support her gently(cradle her) and not cause soreness from pressure points that a less compliant foam might produce like the 20 year old foam in there now. Once she get off the seat it will come back to it's normal shape. Just a thought!

the ones i have in mine are out of 90s i can send pic if you would like they are elec. black and gray i seen a set this week end in the junk yard that where black and red

I had a pair of Pontiac Sunbird seats laying around...they bolted right in. They don't match the rest of the interior - but it sure is a lot easier on my back!!

Tempur-pedic foam is what i put in my 76 vette seats but I got it for free from friend whos dog chewed half of his mattress up...$2500 ouch.

its not cheap stuff but man does it feel good, cant even tell by looking at seats except a little more cushin

i used to have Z28 seats in my t and they were comfortable they came of a 01 just transfered seat tracks from oem seats to new seat.

Looks great 86gn. Is the rear seat an f-body seat as well? What mods required if it is and how hard was it to fit that console? My T needs the seats done now. I would consider something like that swap as long as I could get both front and rears to match.

Yes the front seats are from a trans-am along with the console, the back seat is still the stock seat all the covers were made by jacks seat cover witch also came with the door skins. I dyed all the plastic in the car to black and the leather seats covers were ordered from jacks . As for the install the console was not that bad had to move the stock shifter a little to get it to match up cut a little here and there but overall not bad @ all. As far as the seats if you want the stock GN seat rails they bolt right up to the bottom of the TA seats and will bolt right in, but me being 6.5 I wanted the lower seat rails that come with the TA seats for X-tra headroom in the car. So I had to move my seatmounts(floor studs) around in the car to get them to line up. just set your mind to it and lay the new parts in there and you will find a way to get them to stay.

Thanks John

I am so glad I found this thread......I was just cruising in the Z28 today and thought to myself....these seats and console would rock in the T Type. Time for Vette seats in the Z and transfer those seats to the T Type!!!!!

86gn, that is way cool. Bada$$, even. I've seen other TRs with the 4th-Gen seats, but never the console. You have what so many G-body owners have dreamed about - a cupholder!!! :)

That deserves to be in GMHTP. Speaking of which, it reminds me of an early-70s El Camino I saw in Hot Rod once. The owner had completely replaced the interior with late-model pieces, and it looked awesome.
