I'm going to the track this Thursday and will be using BFG Drag Radials. My suspension mods are as follows, HR Parts n Stuff boxed Lower Control Arms, 90/10 shocks up front, no front sway bar. What air pressure should I start with in the BFG's? I'm just trying to get a general idea where I should start with them. Thanks.

depends on the size of the rim. if on a 15"x7" start with 20-22#s and go from there if they are on 15"x8" go with around 18#s to start. lower pressures than listed above can be raised if you do long burnouts cause the tires heat up and the air expands thus increasing your pressure.BTW BFGDRs wont last long doing long burnouts.;) also when they go bald they hook up even less, one might think being like a slick they would be better but the tread in em is so soft that it cushions the torque shock once its bald its left up to the sidewalls and they do not wrinkle like a slick does so your power goes up in smoke.

Their mounted on stock T-type rims so 15x8. The tires are brand new. I don't plan any smokey burnouts. I've heard that its best to just turn them over enough to get them clean and a little warm. Thanks for the input.

Are you running the 275x50s, or 275x60 drag radials (I'm assuming with 15x8s you're NOT using 235s).??? My friend runs the 255x50x16s on his Camaro, and is capable of some low 1.8x 60' times with 22 psi or so. He would have even less sidewall than the 275x50s. He also does some pretty long burnouts. I would say you could go as low as 20 psi to start with 275x50s, and even as low as 18 psi if they're 275x60s. Good luck!

18 psi in mine (275/50) BFGs. Best is a 1.73 60 ft. Just roll em over a little to heat em up:)

Stock T-type wheels are 15 X 7. Don't go below 18 psi or the center rib looses contact with road surface. Somewhere between 20 and 18 psi will work best. I've done 1.6's at 24 psi on a well prepped track.

You can get away with no smokey burnouts if your track is clean and dust free and ricers and pickups are banned. Otherwise, a smokey burnout will likely be required to clean off the crap you pick up on the return road and in the staging lanes. Drag radials have to be CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN to work. Driving through a 10 foot long patch of dirt or crushed white rock sometime after a burnout and their traction is done for the night (unless you scrub them clean or do a monster burnout to clean off the layer of dirt clogged rubber)

Get a line lock if you go to the track more than once a year. It makes burnouts much easier on the car and will make launching easier and more predictable (less back brake heating during a burnout)

Yeh I couldn't remember if the T rims were 15x8 or 15x7. Thanks. I'll just try 24psi to start and go from there. The track is usually pretty well prepped. Thanks everybody.

I run 16 psi on stock rims and have pulled a 1.73 60 ft on the BFG drags....16 psi hooks best for me with no problems...
