BHJ and Timing

Now that there are lots more out there - how is everybody finding the timing on their BHJ equipped cars?

My car appears to be way retarded at idle.

After doing a search and some reading, I am going to check the timing with a light with the two pins on the ALDL shorted - should be running at 15* in that condition.

But first, I am going to draw a better line on the balancer - kinda hard to see what's going on down there.

Seems like some are right and some are not lined up but only found old threads about it.

For anybody that may be interested:
After painting the line on the balancer and shorting the terminals in the ALDL link, the timing was at 11*, not at the 15* marker on the tab as I beleve it should be in that state.

I verified that the tab was reading true TDC when I degreed the cam.

Yep,Thats about normal for a BHJ
Most car with aftermarket ecu will find they have
to set crank offset to 5 or 6*

Most stock ones i have found to be right on or even 1-2* advanced
