Large shaft wheel equal gains?

Wheel size not being a factor is there anything to be gained from having a large shaft turbo over a small shaft turbo?

Yes and no. The bigger wheel sizes on the smaller shafts (TE-62) supposedly have problems with failures. If you are running a big wheel you might as well have the large shaft. I don't think their is a power gain but durability does come into play.

At what size wheel should the move be made to the large shaft?

Any thoughts?

I believe P-trim and larger turbine wheels will use the larger shaft.
As Intercooler said, TE-62`s (w/ p-trim) experienced failures for some time. I ran a 62 that is 4 years old and it worked flawlessly. But, anything larger than the 62 will probably be of the big shaft variety. The TE-62 uses as 59mm wheel. Where as the 63, is a 63mm. Must be that the extra mass causes problems? My guess, any how.

Any other thoughts? What do you guys think of a 67 mm wheel on a small shaft turbo?
