What would be the reccomendation for the biggest turbo with msd 50# inj. and a 2800 lockup? Also using a PRECISION FRONT MOUNT, ported heads, all basic mods, etc...
 
I was thinking of switching to a 45 from my 54, you thing 2800 stall will be enough?
 
You'd have trouble not exceeding max dc with a pt-61 or te-60. A 49-44-51 is about as high I'd be willing to go on 50's. If you wanna jack the fp up enough and run 100%+ dc then you can go with a TE-60 or possibly a pt-61. It all depends on the combo and tune and how much boost.

With the right tune a 2800 will spool a 51 and get the bottom 11's for you no problem. A 51 is nothing more than a slightly bigger turbine wheel than a 44. It simply wont spool a large turbo, I had both a stock D5 and an orange stripe trying to spool a turbonetics stage 4 and just couldn't. It would pick up 31 mph on top but it would run a 2.3 60'. If you wanna spend the bucks you could offset the lag with a BB turbo.

The other problem you have is when going to a bigger turbo you are moving a lot of air which may be fine down low at low boost but when it comes on at it's peak at 5000 rpm's you may have problems. Even a good pump(walbro 340 hotwired) will have problems keeping up with a 45a. Once you get into the 10 sec. range you have to start considering a complete fuel system as the next mod. A double pumper setup or an aeromotive 1000 external pump with 72's or 83's combined with the 45a would make a nice combo.

trading t/a , did you have the cheetah stage 4 from turbonetics? do you have any pics of the turbo? what size exhaust housing was on there? sorry to ask so many questions but i picked up a turbonetics turbo really cheap and cant figure out exactly what turbo i have.
 
Chris what kinda boost were you running and what were your DC's?

I would go with a TE-54 with a 2800 stall or if you want to use the E-brake launch and dont mind a little lag buy a Stealth 70.

Is anyone running this combo? I have a PTS 9X11 2800 and need to know?
 
The TR I just bought was seen going around 10.60's with a te54, 9inch, and 009's. No tuning. just a "package" chip. Don't know what the DC was.
