I also run a 50mm TiAL, makes me feel better about hitting it in traffic and letting off quick...I don't like the thought of reversion... Doesn't sound like a sneeze/whistle either, more like a woosh-woosh-woosh-woosh. Almost like the wastegate flapping as if you didn't run one, just a little meaner and cleaner. :)

you may have the wrong spring in it, it should be one whoosh, not multiple
i can exchange it for you

that is actually a complete load of marketing bull****
his 'tests' are doctored using wrong springs/other methods...we have gotten a little irritated with this guy so we made our own videos showing otherwise
YouTube - Synchronic BS Callout

do you have any advice on how to spec a bov?
what are the effects of compressor surge? is a bov optional on automatic cars?
i heard compressor surge on the synapse video. i'd prefer one, quick, burst of air.

whoosh

to be honest, my 4 banger buddies running 30+ PSI make almost the same noise. im not sure what spring came in it though. you think it might be too tight? right now im pushing 20 psi, but after the TA60 upgrade it should be around 25 i think.

whats the charge besides shipping? the thing is about 2 weeks old.

you measure what spring you need by engine idle vacuum at opperating temp, boost doesn't come into play
check this sheet and reference it to your in/hg reading

i will exchange the spring for free if you have the wrong one, you pay shipping:cool:

yep, you spec the spring to the amount of vacuum you pull at idle when the car is warm

use that chart as a reference!

compressor surge puts a load on the thrust bearings which can lead to large amounts of shaft play which will eventualy kill the turbo

automatic cars are at far less risk because the throttle doesnt close between shifts, that doesn't mean you don't need a BOV but it also doesnt mean you do.

Ok cool, Ill have a look. My PCV setup isnt really complete right now so I am pulling waaay more vacuum than i normally would by having the PCV blocked off until I get a check valve. I'll let you know, is there any way to tell what spring i have now? anything I should be careful of when taking it apart?

it will say what pressure it is on the box it came in (if you still have it)
you can also give me the serial number and i can tell you from that, that way you do not have to take it apart

i'd wait until you get everything set up before we exchange, 1 in/hg can be the difference between 2 springs.

Ok, because I'm pretty sure mine came in a Garrett box for some reason... I don't remember seeing any numbers on it though. I'll get back to you tonight with the S/N. Thanks!

we use garrett boxes, we are a Garrett performance distributor, there should be a sticker on the side of the box with the info

ok cool, thanks!

And Sorry to Nick for hijacking... Check out the TiAL valves, I haven't seen any other that I like better. They come with a flange of your choosing (Steel/Alum), get it welded and you're good to go!
