blow off valves

why don't you guys run bov's once you upgrade turbos to help save the life of the turbo? I could care less on the stock turbo...I was just curious though...because when you're full boost and immediately lift, you're kind of telling your turbos to piss off.

I run a HKS SSQ and love it. I was tired of hearing the flutter everytime I lifted. Plus like you said it save the thrust bearing on the turbo.
The best part about it is it wakes up the dead, the bad part is that it will sometimes scare someone from running you on the street. I have scared the $hit out of some people walking on the sidewalk. They will jump and scream sometimes, it makes it difficult to stay on the road when you are doubled over laughing your ass off.

Lol....I just laughed reading that wh1-Denver....I can only imagine how funny it is in person. You wouldnt happen to have a picture of your BOV would you? Ive never seen what one actually looks like on a TR.

When I was a dumb teenager, I used to do what my buddies and I called "The key thing", where, as you're driving, you'd shut off the car, and build up some pressure, then turn the car back on right when you're beside people on the sidewalk. Used to do it all the time in my '76 Malibu. Would sound like a shotgun went off, lol.
A few times of doing that and my turbo muffler looked like a jiffy pop container when the popcorn was done

funny...that's the BOV I'll be doing on my car is the HKS SS...unless I do a Turbonetics.

Where do you guys mount the BOV on a TR? Is it in the inlet pipe from the intercooler to the throttlebody?

Hey guys, i was reading thru your thread here and was wondering
if any pics were available?
Just curious cause i ran a blow off valve on my T for a while.
Its a good idea for boosting on the street. For reasons already
stated. I'm not running mass air any longer.k&N, 4" pipe right into
turbo. For some reason big turbo (track guys) dis the blow off
valve. So i was talked out of useing mine on more than one
ocassion. They say i don't need it.? Anyway i still have the
custom up pipe, & valve.
along w/ some photos.
