blowers and nitrous??

Hey guys - My dad and I are getting ready to install a roots style blower on my brothers camaro. Its just your standard 350 chevy (nothing special) but he does have a 100 shot of nitrous via an edlebrock carb plate system. We are planning on leaving it on to supplement the supercharger but my uncle swears up and down that you cannot use both. Not only does he think it'll blow the engine (which it will if not tuned, obviously) but he maintains that you cannot use the plate setup with it. Is anyone out there running a setup like this or does anyone know for sure if you can or cannot - maybe my logic is off but i dont really see where the problem is. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

not only is it okay to use, but the effect on a roots blown motor is even more so than a NA motor. first of all the cooling effect of the nitrous acts as an intercooler to supplement the blower. and also the more liquid injected on top of it helps to seal the rotors more thus creating an increased efficiency of the unit. youll probably be surprised on how big of a diff it will make

Great! Thanks man thats exactly what I was looking for, I knew about the intercooling effect which he didn't believe but the info about sealing the rotors is very reasurring. Do you have experience with this or is it just common knowledge I was unaware of? Either way thanks again for the info.

i dont have personal experience from my own vehicle, but yes, a few people ive been did and i witnessed alot of it. example, just for your kicks, a 406 sbc with a 6-71 equivilant on top. with 2 500 cfm Holleys. baseline with pump gas was in the 430 range, wich isnt a stellar amount, but it was a low compression motor cause we were planning to spray. with 100hp wet shot under the carbs (50hp a piece), not only did we get a 100hp gain, but it was almost 150hp. and it was a tad rich. so instead of pilling down the fuel, we upped the boost 2 pulley sizes, dont remember what it was but i think like 16psi on top, netting a gain from before to after of around 190hp. it was alot of fun, and 600hp on pump gas was pretty impressive for what we had done to it.

That is very encouraging! Thanks for your help. This is a relatively tame motor ( 8:1, small cam, 600 carb, basically a GM crate motor for a late 70's truck) but with a 100 shot it ran a 13.5 @110 with 3.08 gears - not bad for less than $700 for the entire driveline (not counting nitrous) Its a small blower thats going on too, 4-71, so I will be very curious to see how it acts.
