I dropped the trans to put in new rear main seal and so I put in new trans front and rear seal. Every thing was good I put sweet new exhaust on ran it up and down the road. next day I took it to emissions and the inspector comes back and tells me he couldn’t finish because their is transmission fluid all over the ground I had to trailer it home and I jacked it up and just what I thought the seal is pushed forward so I got to drop the trans again. The car is stock and I don’t plan on going crazy and don’t want to put a lot of money into it. What are a few simple things to do to the tranny? I read about drilling out the drain back hole and a front seal retainer. Any good kits for small rebuild? I don’t need the tranny to handle over 300 hp stock is fast enough for me I just don’t want to take it out anymore ! Thanks

what kind of car is this? What year?

If you are worried about 300 hp, you may have an issue.

86 Gn The 200r4 Trans i am not gonna build up the motor big time. i just want to make the transmission good so i dont have to fix it again. i dont want to build the crap out of it. im not making a drag machine.

Even a small modification will put you near or over 300. These cars were "right about there" from the factroy.

Why not just get a stout tranny that will last the life of a moderate build?
