I am using meguiars mirror glaze yellow 26 and it seems like it is taking the paint off. what is recommended for laquer paint.

if paint is coming off, you need to use a paint cleaner to take the dead paint off, then wax it......i use Griot's Garage products and they work very well...they have 4 different levels of polishes, and I follow up with their Best of Show wax....depending on the car im detailing I will start with the clay bar...takes a lot of time, but its worth it to me

I clayed bar the car last year.how often does car need to be clay bar. it looks like the paint is coming off which according to mequiars says good on all paint surfaces.

The answer is it depends.

You should really go over to Meguiars online forums and hang around a bit. There's more info than anyone can repeat here.

What to use and how often to use it depends on the condition of the paint and the type and severity of the surface defects present.

Claybar is a useful cleaner for SURFACE (tree sap, tar, bug poop) defects but does nothing to get rid of defects below the surface like etchings and swirl marks.

My waxing regiments consists of

Wash (dual bucket method)
Clay Bar
Dual Action cleaner polish
Speed Glaze
#21 Synthetic sealant

And on dark cars let the #21 cure for a day and follow up with #26 for more depth.

This depends on the condition of the paint.

My Buick sits in the garage most of the time. More than likley it will just get a wash, clay bar and sealant.

The others get a variant.

Find the meguiars forums and read read read.

my ttype also sits in the garage covered etc. the mequiars board is kind of confusing. i just went and purchased meguiars paint cleaner,#7 meguairs glaze and then #26 wax to finish the job. actually is this process ok? and second how often do i need to wax after the initial glaze, cleaner step?

Have the car wet sanded and buffed to get rid of the flat sun beaten paint. than glaze and wax.
