W.e happen with this, ? I have been hit with a sudden interest in doing some buying just dont have the experience of buying in selling, im thru Fidelity.

Yes, I bought a few penny stocks years back. Bought a gold/mining company back when gold was on rise. Had over a million shares.lol I figured if it ever went to a penny...$$$.. Also, I bought a real estate/mortgage company after the housing bubble. No luck on either.

Oh well...

I'd stay away honestly unless you have insider buying/trading info.lol

Joe

Doesn't have to be penny stock. But fun, value, potential all would be good descriptive words of stocks to recommend.. I was hoping we could trade a little info or advise on such.

I would be selling the GLD mining co's now. Buy agriculture banks and energy.

What would be an ok amount to start investing? I already invest thru my jobs 401k and pension etc, i choose my own investments etc.. But i previously decided on opening a Brokerage acct with Fidelity and thru some money in there. Was thinking about playing with some $$ and dont even know where to start at.? It just asks me for a company symbol and how many shares do i want to buy / sell etc..I dont even know what im looking at. Im honestly going to start out with like $200 im kinda leaning farther and farther away from it. i have a few thousand but i cant just let that piss in the wind. My buddy just made some $$ so he kinda pushed me into there but he's a crazy guy and he's lost a ton of $$ before.

Spend a few weeks/months doing your own research before you do anything. Once someone in the WSJ or Bloomburg or CNBC is touting a stock to buy its usually to late to get in.

If you are going to invest, I would use the ETF's. It's basically a fund that tracks an index, but can be traded like a stock. ETFs are traded on stock exchanges. ETFs are more tax-efficient than normal mutual funds, and since they track indexes they have very low operating and transaction costs associated with them. There are no sales loads or investment minimums required to purchase an ETF.

Remember, LESS than 20 percent of all mutual funds beat their passive benchmark over long time periods.

I dont mind researching, but what am i looking for again? lol j,k what i dont know and most ppl dont is when and what to buy? What do you feel a good amount of $$ to "start" investing. Im not making a living off of it but i do have a 18% return on my investments i currently chose thru my 401k. But i thought i could do it on my own as well. Really not sure maybe i should speak to a specialist b4 i loose my $$

X10

The only way to make money on a stock is if YOU carefully track the stock over a period of time using trends, pattern's, charts and waves .... When you think it's hit it's low then BUY. Then SELL after it raises and take your profits.

Joe

18% short term........I think the pros historically are at 6/6.5%

Are you a handy guy? Duplex would be a great investment. Let your tenants pay for YOUR duplex while using the rental property as a deduction.

Think about it. They pay the mortgage. After your rental property is paid in full you still have the EQUITY on your property (which was paid for by the tenants) AND the cash flow is still coming in monthly.
If the stock market crashes, no problem, people still need a place to live. Your good.

If you have 100k in your 401k, you spend the 100k then IT'S GONE.lol Unless the 1% of this country get it first :)

Understand?

Joe

I have around 10 or so rentals and in this economy they have become a pain.
Again locations other then mine may be better. Still the tax implications are handy and long term equity.
I wouldn't mind coat tailing some educated picks for fun. Hell maybe we could get lucky. Most of the good stuff is to expensive. Or like stated above if we hear about it, its because that boat has already sailed.
I mean it would just be suggestions and up to our discretion to follow.

Wow RMAR your doing good! i havent even been able to purchase a home yet Miami is very very expensive, ive been turned down once and ive just been saving to buy something cash. My buddy just bought himself a nice duplex for 48k cash but it did need some TLC. It was a Foreclosure he got lucky on that one
