I got back a few days ago. Had a blast. Last year I was on the pit crew for a very fast streamliner. This year I found myself wrenching on one of the fastest doorslammers in the world. We were trying to break our old record of 274 mph on all motor. DA was at 7000 and not helping maters. We ran right around 270 mph five times. On our sixth pass we put a hole in a piston and didn't have parts to fix it. This car also holds the record with NOS at 311 mph. That's asking a lot of a stock bodied Pontiac Firebird. Here's the car I worked on this year.
Owner Dave Macdonald on the left. Engine Builder /tuner Dave Ebbert on the right.
I like this shot. The car, running and ready to go.
Here's another one of that six banger Buick posted above.
If you guys ever get a chance to go. Do it. If you haven't seen the movie "Worlds Fastest Indian", see it. Some day I dream of running a TTA there. It would be running on E85 with a air to water intercooler packed with a buttload of ice. I think it's doable. All I need is more time and money.
