boost controller

I have a te44 on a stock converter. I heard a boost controller may help increase the spool some. Is there anything to this?

I would advise against the RJC controller.

The RJC controller IS THE 3Bar controller(formerly DawesDevices the inventor of such valve) with the price marked up from $32. See here: http://www.3barracing.com/product_7.htm Notice the price, and RJC didn't even change the picture when they stole it off!!

My controller, the QSBC(Quick-Spool Boost Controller, around before RJC's) is based off the same principals to increase spool-up, but my design is less prone to spiking than the 3Bar/RJC controller. I've also done dyno testing for it to show an average of 6-800RPM sooner to full boost for the 3.8l Turbo Buick engine. This was done over a testbed of 7 GNs/T-Types, and numerous cars on here run them in the 10's, 9's, and even 8's.

Not only that, but I offer an In-Car version which allows adjustment of boost from the drivers seat, as you drive! No more need to pull over and pop the hood to adjust your boost. Comes with everything needed to install, detailed instructions with pictures, sized vacuum hose to use, and even zipties.

At the end of your day, you're just getting more for your money. Which can mean a lot with these gas prices! Availability is limited though(I don't sell these anymore)

I still use the one I purchased from Sinful over 2 years ago. Works great, quicker spool, easy to dial up the boost and no spiking.

Does this do the same thing as the BCST boost control?

I have the BSCT boost controller in my GN, and was looking at these valves. Does my bsct boost control keep the puck closed longer too? or is this a worthwhile upgrade?

TJ, The BstC is a good unit, I used to run one in my car. The BstC is a electronic solenoid, so it functions the same as a bleeder valve, meaning it does not keep the puck closed an longer than normal. So to answer your question, BstC is about the best bleeder valve for our cars, but you'd get quicker spool-up with a ball style controller. Considering a BstC would be worth ~$100-150 if you sold it on these forums, it'd more than cover the cost of whatever you chose.

I have been using the manual boost controllers ( Joe P ) for a long time on the GN's. They do work and you can get them for $10 on ebay. I have bought 3 of them off ebay for my turbo cars, all did the trick.

Spool up will increase and there are tricks to get it to spool even faster.

Okay,so I have a Qboost controller designed by you! It came in a bag with a spring and 2 balls,one big and one small and a spring. Which ball goes in 1st then spring and other ball. Thanks

I have the BstC controller and works like a charm. Quick install and gives you some cool features (third gear boost control). You have to splice into the ECM which can be a little tricky as it is the ECM and dont want to mess anything up. I soldered(sp?) everything so that I know I have a good solid connection. you get 7lbs of play with it. In other words you adjust your wastegate to lets say 14lbs you can then turn that up to 21lbs using the controller and so fourth. I bought mine used for $100 but a new one can be had for rougly $150. I know other guys use manual controllers as this is an electrical unit. I run this along with alky kit and it is a great combo

So set @ 14 PSI you could add 7PSI more to that or can you also subtract 7PSI to that? IE if I have it set @ 20PSI can I go down to 13 PSI and back up to 27PSI? Just wondering. I imagine you could only go up. And @ what incremints can you adjust? Say 1PSI increments or is it not that accurate? Also did you notice any difference in turbo spool, and knock, any con's to this boost controller? Thanks guys!
