Alright I just got my 85 GN back from the bodyshop and while its amazing and everything, my boost is totaly like f'd up. Alright I never modded the car at all, not even a boost gage. Well before it went there, the stock gauge (dunno how accurate) worked fine, and i still had some kick in the car(for an 85 hehehe). So I get it back and I notice that the car's gauge says when idiling that it has 2 bars lit up, now thats odd. So I go out and drive it, and the car won't lite up past 3 bars(constantly at 2). I hear the turbo, I know its trying but nothing is really going. Its got some speed, but I got passed by my friends stock 97 v6 camaro when i had my car floored :(, and he did with ease. Where should I look? This will really be my first time playing with the boost/engine at all, and oh yeah my car has some smoke comming outa the tailpipes after running it hard. Just stock exhuast but with dual glasspacks on it.

Forgive me, I don't know much about the 85's, but I assume there is a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor on the passenger inner fender that has a boost/vacuum line going to it. It sounds like maybe it isn't hooked up, so its always reading atmospheric pressure. Just a thought...

Would this also have anything to do with its poor poor performance? I mean c'mon a v6 camaro beat me horribly :(

If that line isn't hooked up you have a bad vacuum leak, and would cause the slow spool. Have you checked all your vacuum lines? Just a thought, but I'm not too familiar with the '85.
