howdy all, lets see if i can glean some 411 from you guys, when i hit my brakes, once in a while i hear a loud clunk comming from my right front wheel. any ideas what might be causing this?? any help is appreciated. thanks

I heard a loud clunking under my car as well. I also thought it was a brake issue but after a little snooping around I saw that the upper A-frame bushings were almost nonexistent and needed to be replaced. May not be your problem but it's something to check into regardless. Good luck!

I agree. Something's loose and it's prolly not the brakes. Jack up that wheel, have a friend hold the brake and try to rotate the wheel by hand (or lug wrench) in both directions or use another jack to jack it up and down. Look for movement on the parts. Goos luck with it.

Could also be an ungreased outer tie rod. Don't ask me how I know that one either. :(

You'll know for sure if it pops off the tapered bolt.

I once had a brake pad snap in half and that also made some funky sounds during braking. More clicky clacky rather than clunky. ;)

bushing it is!

i looked at the right hand side upper control arm and bingo, i noticed that there was very little bushing left. i guess i shoulda looked at everything not just the brakes. thanks for your helf fellas. hope i can be as much help in the future!
