I just installed a reman powermaster unit a few weeks ago, and tonight I experienced some new issues.. again.. I'm quite irritated with this brake system.
First I felt the pedal feeling kinda soft later into the night. Then I noticed the pump motor cycling for longer periods then normal. Then I heard it cycling when my foot wasnt even on the brake. Like after I would let off the brake for several seconds while parked. It would cycle a couple times afterwards by itself.
I get out and pop the hood. I notice some brake fluid seeping from around the bottom of the pressure switch. Got some on my finger, so its there. This was completely dry when I installed the unit. Could this symptom be the pressure switch?
The brake light hasnt come on yet, unless I repeatedly pump the pedal a few times in a row, which is normal. And the fluid level in the reso is still in check.
When I got the new unit installed, to depressurize the system, I only had to pump the pedal 8 times before it got hard. Versus the old one which I had to pump about 10 to 12 times before it got hard. Whats normal and whats not?
What could be the problem now?
Is there a torque spec for the switch? Could a slight leak cause this problem? Or could it be the accumulator? It's a new f***in accumulator!
