Check out the big brown spot deposited in my back yard.
Can you guess what it is ?
Its the small spot to the left + rear of the bird feeder.

+ is a bit overwhelmed.
It took it about 10 seconds to stand + was pretty shaky,i think it was the first time it ever stood up,I think it was born there over night but was too weak to stand until mid day the next day when this cat forced it up.

actually got to touch it in the pic where its back is turned to me,this is one of those disposable camera's ,(I had ran to the store + bought one)+ there is no zoom on them so the cam is like a foot or 2 away in the close ups, especiallyy the last one where it is laying down,i was actually too close with the cam About a ft + he was about to stand up again, so i backed off + left him alone.

This was actually on june 1- 2 summers ago,
But i went + dug them up because i walked out this morning + there were 2 does on the front lawn, + i think they were both pregnant,1 of them looked like it was about to pop,i'm guessing twins,+ i'm figuring they will be born right here, the deer feel very safe in and around my yard because it sits up high with old stone walls that drop off to the lower areas,so it gives them an area where they can see anything approaching from below,+ have the walls as a barrier,+ with good escape routes, In the winter they will actually bed down at night until morning,on each side of that little white fence + under those pine trees, which also gives them some cover from the weather. it also overlooks a small brook below,+ deer love to bed down on ridges or high ground above water supplies.
I have a video of a doe + 2 very young fawns back their last summer,+ my idiot neighbor saw them come from the lower field up into my yard,+ i guess wanted to show them to his dog,a pitbull.well this beautiful scene turned into an adrenaline rush as the pitbull which was on a leash decides it wants a closer look,+ gets out of his collar, momma + the fawns take off running +
he catches the dog but all hell has broken loose + the doe jumps the neighbors fence + one fawn takes off across the street to escape the dog but one of the fawns is left screaming + running headfirst into the fence over + over, that the mother had jumped over, but a couple days later all 3 were together again out back but the doe was keeping an eye in the direction of the dogs house across the st.
I'll see if i can put it on you tube + then put the link on here,I never knew a fawn could scream like that,The video is kind of a rush because it goes from this quiet beautiful scene to everybody + everything, running, yelling, barking, jumping, crashing + screaming, in a matter of seconds.

nice......have a lot of deer in my 'yard', most of the doe's are preggo, they seem to give birth around the last week of May around here......I'm expecting to see some little ones in the next couple weeks, can't wait.........

ya i had read before that they are born on average june 1 around here, + he just happened to be born june 1

lets eat it. love a good back strap

not much meat on that one,not in those pics anyway, but its amazing how fast they grow,by winter it was almost as big as his mother which is a huge doe.
when that cat scared it it went and layed down in that little garden area in front of the white fence for a while, and the whole rest of the summer it would come with its mother + it would go lay down in my girlfriends flowers that she plants in that spot,+ momma would lay down behind the fence + keep watch from all directions, when it came time to leave she would actually have to push or chase him out of the flowers,he would actually disapear in them + you would never know he was there if you hadn't seen him go in. It loved that little sunken garden area ,it felt safe in there, but my girlfriend had the same idea as you, + started talking about venison recipes.I always find some big tracks in that garden + figure its him checking out his favorite spot.
