I know others will differ. I installed a TCI Stretfighter 200 4R. It came with instructions that said to change the fluid and filter after the first 500 miles due to clutch and band wear in. I did an now have close to 10K miles on that tranny.

Mandatory, some will say its not. But I wanted the longest life possible from my new tranny, and for the price of fluid and filter, why not??

I agree with wayner. I put the same tranny in my car and followed the same recommendation from TCI, have about 15,000 km's on it so far.

Hey Craig,

How do you like your streetfighter tranny? I have mine behind a 461 BBC in a 70 Camaro, my rear end gearing is 3.31.
My tranny shifts into 4th at 51 mph, I originally thought something was wrong, but believe now the tranny governor was set up for a steeper rear gear. I was going to cut a couple coils of the 3-4 shift valve spring, to bring down only the 3-4 shift. I would have liked it to shift into 4th a little earlyier.

I love the transmission, works perfect. I found the same thing with it going into 4th gear though, shifting later then i wanted.
About 2000-3000km's ago I installed TCI's manual VB so now it goes into 4th whenever I want. :D

Excellant! I love my TCI unit too. I don't race at any tracks, so using a manual valve body is not something I would consider, but am curious, does the manual valve body do away with the TV function??

yup the TV is no longer needed, which eliminates a headache as far as i'm concerned, LOL

No break in required

Best shifts it will ever make is the first ones. Transmissions do not require a break in.
All that says there is............... is pure myth;)
