I installed a TCI Streetfighter 200 4R this spring, it came with some tips. One of the tips was to change the fluid and filter after the first 500 miles due to breakin. It said the clutchs and bands etc.. will all loose some material initially.
I followed this adivice, and so far I have close to 10K miles on my 200 4R.
Certainly it won't hurt anything. I also run and changed my inline filter. I am a firm believer in keeping the fluid clean on OD trannys.

I would. I got a new one back and smoked it by doing blasts before it got good and hot. Sometimes the lube they use on the check balls and stuff has to get hot to become liquid so things move as they should so I would drive it normal for about 100 miles or so.
