My break light comes on for a sec when I hit the breaks. I know that its about around $1400 for a new break unit and around $400 for a new acumulator. I havent messed with the thing at all cause i havent a clue on how to go about trouble shooting it. I am wondering how much longer the thing will last and if there is anything that I can do with it with before the thing goes

that was the only thing that i did to it was chech it and add fluied to it the light still comes on.

Ash,

Take a look at the troubleshoot instructions here. They are pretty simple and will probably help determine what is wrong with your brakes....

http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/brakes/brakespage.html (complete brake section)
http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/brakes/PwrMstr.html (diagnostics)

My first guess it the Accumulator. $400 is a bit high... they should be around $150. If you look at ebay, there was (a few days ago) a couple accumulators that start bidding at $50... just beware of shipping & handling. If it is the accumulator, buy from the dealership

I hope that helps

You probably do need an accumulator, but $400???? Have you called Kirbans?

Ya I guess $400 is very high I did see one for sale for that price althow i do not rember where i saw it. I havent looked around for one yet but i am deffenetly not going to pay that price for one if everyone says that is way to high. Thanks for the info

I got the whole brake unit, accumulator, switch and all for less than $200. I think my mechanic said he got it from Car Quest. It was one of them auto parts stores. It was a rebuilt unit, but alot cheaper than a new one or one from the regular turbo Regal catalogs.
