i might be purchasin a 1985 GN and was just wondering the difference in the drive train especially the transmission

it has the 3.42 posi
just wondering what the stall speed is (assuming it is stock)
and what is the difference between the 1985 BRF code trans and the 1987?
didnt they have firmer shifts and a larger valve body... i am unsure and would just like some imput PLEASEE!:D

the 85 had a smaller interediate servo piston number 692 which was upgraded to the larger 694 when they added horsepower in the form of an intercooler and other mods.the valve body and governor are similar and will shift at the same full throttle rpm with the proper cable adjustment.if you want to be smart install a shift kit and 694 style servo for increased durability.

Also, if you crawl under the '85 GN and look at the transmission ID tag, it'll read BQ as it did in 1984 as well. The 1986-87 units were BRF code.
