I don't see a BO6 listed in the trans manual for 87. But it looks like someone switched the VB for a BO6 unit then sold it and kept the good stuff. Providing they made a BO6 VB. I know mine has BRF stamped in paint on the side of mine.

Pull out the governor and compare the weights to the pictured governor on Gnttype.org. also count the teeth on the governor gear. Tell us what number is on the servo cover on the passenger side outside of the trans. Look on the aluminum plugs on the end of the VB and tell us the numbers stamped into them.

Are you sure it is not a BQ6? Looks like a Q to me. Better check again. It does have two pressure switches on the VB though, that is a good sign.

how do i take out the servo where is it will get numbers from servo ;)

Governor is accessed by removing the aluminum housing behind the VB. Should be 4-6 13mm head bolts holding it on. Then the gov just pulls out.

Loking at the pics again, it does look like the VB says BQ6 on it, which means someone put a hot air VB on a later trans. This is nothing to worry about though. It is still a performance VB. If you have a reputable shop build it, they will make sure it has the correct seperator plate on it and you should be good to go.

You don't need to take out the servo. The numbers are on the servo cover. Just clean off the cover with a rag and read the numbers off the cover. On the passenger side, on the 3" diameter circular cover, the numbers are there.

Hi Guys...here is what mine looks like.
BF3 Valvebody. GN Govenor.

I bought this tranny from a forum member some time ago. Hope this helps.

Your servo is one size smaller than a 86-87 GN servo which ended in the numbers 694, but is consistant in size with an 84-85 GN. The valvebody also appears to be from an 84-85 GN as it looks like it is marked BQ. The governor is one from a GN. It has the proper size wieights and has the correct gear.

Question is the governor supposed to have 1 or 2 springs

The governor could have come with one spring or two. We have brand new GM governors that came with either one or two springs, so it is anyones guess on that. The ink on the V/B looks like a BQ to me also, but then, I haven't seen it in person. From all the pics I have seen, I would almost bet it is a true BQ.
