Broke on 3-4 shift

I was making a WOT pass at 20 psi, and my tranny broke at the 3-4 shift. It was the original tranny with 93k miles on it, and always shifted nice and never flared.

The car still ran at highway speed, but after I turned around I had no forward or reverse gears, just bad noises

The fluid was fresh, but I could see some very faint metal in it.

Any thoughts on where I should start looking?
