where does brown wire get power from?

From the ignition switch. The wire should be purple, probably looks brown from age. It goes to the C100 bulkhead connector pin E4. From there it goes to pin C2 on the ignition switch if the car DOESN't have anti theft.

If it has anti theft it goes from C100 pin E4 to the starter interrupt relay pin A and from that relay pin D to pin C2 of the ignition switch.
