okay, just came into some $ and i have always loved the t-type/grand national. my question is, what colors were available in 87 on the t-type. i have a friend that has a dark grey one, that i absolutlely love. how common is this color?

dont see many grey ones but I plan on painting my white ttype grey next summer.

well this one was a darker grey with enkei wheels...looked tough as hell...loved it

1986 & 87 had the same 11 basic solid colors, and in 87 there were also four two-tone designer series combos.

Solids = White #11, Cream Beige #54,,, Light Blue Metallic #25,,, Silver Metallic #12,,, Light Brown Metallic #58,,, Dark Blue Metallic #31,,, Grey Metallic (charcoal) #15,,, Brown Metallic #62,,, Rosewood Metallic #71,,, Black #19,,, and Dark Red Metallic (black cherry) #79. They had one additional solid offering in 1987 called Light Sage Metallic #43.

1987 Designer Series Two-Tones = Dark Blue #31 w/ accent Light Blue #25,,, Grey #15 w/ accent Silver #12,,, Brown #62 w/ accent Light Brown #58,,, and Dark Red #79 w/ accent Rosewood #71. All of which were gorgeous!!!
1986 Designer Series Two-Tone = Black w/ Grey accent.

That should cover it, and put images of some beautiful paint schemes in your head. (except for the cream beige version, which looked like grandma's grocery getter...)

Yes, that color is more rare, and definitely beautiful! The first T-Type I ever drove (in 1988) was a 1986 Charcoal Metallic Grey, which I drooled over. The first one I bought was a Dark Metallic Red (black cherry) which was also gorgeous in the sunlight, but not nearly as rare as some of the other colors.

I have an 86 that was "originally" charcoal. Now it's black, because of the previous owner! Why I don't know. I plan on repainting it back to charcoal as I to love that color.

I have a designer series (Charcoal and black) and it's my favorite T-type color. You could make it easy on yourself and buy an 86 or 87 GN. That way you have a choice of only two colors, black or black.

My Limited is the Dark red Metalic.....Almost black Cherry. I love it.
