I was using your write up to trouble shoot my no start problem this weekend. I think I have a bad coil or module but where your write up says to measure for 12 volts at the coil with key on it say to measure this at the blue wire. I do not see a blue wire anywhere on the connector that screws into the coil pack. Am I looking in the right place? Everything else about the write up was easy to follow and I really want to thank you for taking the time to write it up. I went ahead and checked all the wires on the connector with the key on and I have 12 volts on both wires at the front of the car if anyone knows if this is correct let me know. Thanks for all the help with this car.

John, I believe that particular wire is UNDER the coil, between it and the module. Just pull the coil off the module, you should find it! Let me know, and I'll change that text to point that out!

On the first 2 wires of the connector, the first is to supply power to the module, and the second is to supply power to the coil. According to my manual, the coil power has a 1.7 ohm resistor inline between the CCCI fuse and the module, so you may see slightly less voltage on that wire!

Buick From Hell,

Thanks for the reply. I will take the coil off tonight when I get home and look for the wire. I will let you know where I find it at. Since everything else looked good I have a 86/87 style coil on the way so I can check it out. I figured I would just change to the newer style since I had to replace it anyway. thanks for the help.
