Are you sure that's what happened? I remember a while back the other MAINEiac said he was going to come down there and steal your doors.:D

I went to the Ford Dealer to look at the new Cobra's this afternoon. The thought of spending $35K on a mustang sent me into convulsions ($39K for convert that gets you kicked of the track stock). Sure they are fast, but Yikes.

They are screwed together on the same line as $14K V6 mustangs and on the same lot there were 2 year old, used Mustang GT's with leather interior and nearly the same options as the new cobras for sale for the same $14K.

I'll let someone else take the $15K - $20K depreciation hit for me and pick one up in a couple years. Why pay for a warranty you are just going to void anyway?

LOL @ that picture

yeah a new cobra would be nice...but damn there's no way i can touch that price tag...

Unless they keep coming out with "Supercharged Cobra's" this is going to be the "GNX" of the Cobra Mustangs. Look at the price of earlier Cobras. They still aren't that cheap and everyone from every car camp wants an 03 Cobra. I don't see the pricecs tanking. The earlier Cobra's weren't that big of a deal but the new one's are the real deal.

Big difference between a GNX and the '03 Cobras.
Ford is making 12,000 '03 Cobras (not 547), and is also making an '04 Cobra that will be the same car. They won't be rare, they won't have outrageous market prices. Compared to an SS or WS6 F-body that MSRP'd within a few dollars (often more than) of the '03, and the Cobra is a smoking deal.
You can now find '03's with under 5k miles for $28-29k, and that's in the "pre-summer" market. I'd bet that by fall/winter of this year, you'll be able to pick up an very low mileage '03 for well under $25k.

Grumpy i had a run with one in my 2000GTS Viper i totally destroyed him and he had lots of other mods like Headers, exhaust, pulley change and tuned my one of the mustang tuners. The torque in my Viper is unreal, instant power also ran my buddies GN. which runs 11.30 at 118mph it was no contest on the roll i pulled him instantly and kept pulling away.

I suppose you are going to say your Viper is stock:rolleyes:

Cobra and Lightnings have one of, if not the best resale values of any sports car. I haven't seen too many 03's selling for $25k used, like I did when I went to trade in my 02 WS6. My car depreciated 10 grand in 1 year. I got the same amount in trade for my 01 lightning, and I traded that in 3 weeks ago, and both vehicles had identical MSRP's.

My Viper has B&B headers, 3"exhaust, K&N filter with Hennessey airbox, Soe Roe V1 trim box for timing and fuel control. Motor is 100% stock never touched, just the few bolt on's. I took delivery from Chrysler and broke it in hard and it just continues to surprise me.

The new Cobras aren't 6 months old so I doubt any are $25K, yet. Give it time. There will be a point where they hit bottom, 3 to 4 years after new, before the price goes back up. With a new body style coming out in '05, just watch the prices drop.

blkbart

You probabally pulled him on the highway going about 75. My buick currently runs 11.30s on the street and I've pulled a venom. My buddy has an 02' SS that runs just as fast if not a tad faster pulled the same venom on I-95 from a 80mph roll. You wont pull this buick out of the hole with your 20" rims.
