thats weird, i thought they were going to keep using the regal name. because i saw a picture the other day of the new regal. they were going to start offering it in 2-door again... oh well

Good News!

This is good news for those of us in states that require a manufacturer discontinue a model to be eligible for special plates (classic/antique, etc). Now it'll be lots easier when some doofus looks at your application and says "They still make a Regal--Denied".

Like I said in a prior post about this, it would be a great time to start sending tons of e-mail to Buick about a version of the Holden/Australia based GTO. I could imagine a new car with V-8 with a turbo or supercharger, without the plastics, and calling it the Grand National. Hummmmmm, I do like the ring of a next millinium, rear wheel drive, blown injected car. Let's start a campaign and see just how serious GM and Buick are about trying to make Buick a name in perfomance again. Mark :D

It's about time, now if Buick would die with it that'd be even better!

I'd like to see Buick cast "THEIR OWN V8" naturally aspirated with 350hp in rwd.

Opps, I was dreaming again.:(

I'll have to move on to Vettes, Vipers, or eastern vehicles for real muscle in a "new" car anymore.

I think they are looking to diversify their brands a lot more now, so I seriously doubt that Buick will ever be a performance name again...

Buick and performance don't go together in the same sentence in today's standards...more like buick and old geezards:p

I can see discontinuing the "Century" - the name has also become the minimum age to own one.

Jim (who owns a '99 Century but is not quite 100 yet)

I was reading the other day that in 2006 I think it was that Buick is going to offer a RWD Sports car once again.

Where did you see that at Joe? That would be a great article to read. Let's just hope it is based on the Holden/GTO platform. It would be great to have a nice platform to base a new GN on. Mark :D

More than likely it won't be a "BUICK" engine, therefore it's NOT a Buick. That's why I look to Vipers and eastern vehicles anymore for "new" performance. Even as much as I love the Vette, (and owned a new '99) it's still a cheap chevy.

Will NEVER own a Pontiac, (a auto line without a engine) that plus the big-3 SUCK in quality, value and RESALE, what else is there???

Thanks for the info Joe. I will look it up. The whole idea people need to get beyond though, is this is a corporate world. GM has no line specific motors, they are all considered corporate designs shared by several manufacturers, just as everyone shared the 200 4R trans. The Buick imprint will be the perfomance mods that would be badge specific. That will make it a Buick in modern standards. Mark:D

I'd agree with that, but add...Unless it's a Chevy motor. I still call the 3800 a "buick" motor even though it is a coporate motor, its a direct decendant of the 231 we all love :)

I'm not sure, but I think the 4.6 is the std motor in the chevy trucks.. I have the 5.3L Vortec on my Tahoe, but think the 4.6 was the base motor...
