Building Garage Need Help with lift Choice

I'm currently stuck between two choices. A Bend-Pak two post as seen here: http://www.autolifts.com/shop/product26.html

or

An Autolifters Two post as seen here: http://www.autolifters.com/8000_cf.html

I have seen the Bend-Pak in person and it looked good. Though I've never seen teh autolifter in person I've heard from someone that bought it and he said it was nice. Tough Choice... I'm hoping some of you have knowledge and/or experience with one of these lifts an can offer your opinion. Currently, The Bend-Pack comes with free shipping so $2425 is it's final price. The Autolifter including shipping is 2795.00. Though they may match the Bend-Pak price.

Just make sure its asymmetrical, the Bend Pak says it is the autopro dosen't. If you don't you will have a hell of a time getting in and out of the car without banging the doors.

There's not alot to them so there all built about the same way, just a motor and cylinders are the only things that really go bad so make sure you have some sort of warranty on those parts.

It's an additional 99 dollars for the asymetrical arms on the Autolifters. I agree with you. I don't want to be hitting the doors all the time. I also want to pull the wheels off and do brake and suspension work with easy. That's why I'm not getting a 4 post.

Hi James,

FWIW I have a Rotary asymetrical 7,000 pound lift in my garage. I've had it about 6 years or so and paid about 3,000-3,200 or so installed and have not had a single problem with it whatsover.

I was lucky as there was a Rotary distributor down the road and he came and installed it in half a day.

Not sure if you want to spend that much but just wanted to give you another opinion.

Thanks, I"m always interested in other options. Actually, someone told me of another company today that is just down the road from me in Mobile. http://meco-equipment.com/two-post-lift-specs.html The good news is they can ship it to my house for free since I'm so close to them.

Boy, wish I got to use your Rotary lift more... You let someone make license passes in their stage car and you would think they would let you use their lift. And people wonder why my nice shiny rebuilt stage motor is still sitting on the stand... J

I've got a Bendpak Model 10ACX asymetric with about a foot of additional width. Love it. The added width if you have the room is nice. Set up is very simple, I set mine up with a cherrypicker by myself in an afternoon. Their wiring instructions create a negative wind though. Good Luck!

Not to sound sarcastic or anything, and I think I said it before. Look at the local shops. See what theyre using. I think you'll see Challenger and Rotary mainly. Theres a reason for that. They are safe and they last. Dont try to save a few bucks when you have 4000# over your head.

Not trying to sound sarcastic or anything. But if the ones you mentioned were so good, why arent they used more widely in the field.

Don't know, maybe it's a regional thing. Around here Bendpak and Challenger seem to be the preferred lift. Not saying the Rotary isn't comparable, but just personal experience. Actually, when I researched my purchase the local exhaust shop (with 4 different locations) expressed to me that the Bendpak was the "Cadillac of lifts". Or was that Chevette?

That's great advice. I've checked around and their are a few places using Challenger. They were actually one of my top choices until I heard about the autolifter. Though while checking yesterday I found quite a few places using a lift made by Meco Equipment out of Mobile. I'm going to look at one today after I talked with their sales rep. I was impressed. Lots of dealers in my area using them plus all the Wal-Marts around me. Best part is I can get it unloaded to my doorstep for free since I"m so close! Thanks for the suggestions! In fact, if I hadn't asked this question I wouldnt' have gotten the PM recommending Meco. I feel uncomfortable under a car on jackstands. So safety is my #1 concern as it should.
