Does anyone have a built up 4.1? If so what kind of hp gains did you get and what do you do to get the extra hp? Also how much money did you have to put?

Greg, or anyone that may know

I know I asked this same question a LONG time ago, so long it isnt even in the archives now. But what is a proven high 14/ low low 15 sec combo for a 3.8?

Also, when doing the 4.1 intake swap to a 3.8 someone mentioned using the intake gasket from the 80 turbo motor, smaller egr port or something? Is this recommened?

P.S. the 3200 stall in my sig, is my 3.8 really going to stall it at 3200? The guy I got it from had it built by TCS for behind his 87GN, with I believe a pt-51. TIA

Well I think I'm starting with about a 20 second 1/4 car and about 120hp. I would like to get the hp up to around 220-250hp/torque. I have read a much as I can find about 350 swaps and even toyed with the idea of buying a totaled 86-87 GN/TR and doing a engine/ drivetrain transplant (witch is what i really want, but I don't have the money right now for all that). So with price in mind (under-$1000)I would like to keep my 4.1 and build it up to around 225-250 without NOS, I would like to keep it all motor. I read about a performance package from eldebrock for the 231/252 has anyone used this package?

So thats what I want any suggestions????

The actual stall is dependent upon the motor's torque, so it won't stall nearly as high as it did behind the 87 GN.

I wish I could find a magazine road test with a stock 4.1 Regal. The stock 3.8 Regal was about a 19 second car. A 4.1 would have to be about an 18 second car.

The Edelbrock combo will get you what you want, but save some money and keep the stock intake and Q-Jet. Some bowl work on the ports, a cam in the 218 - 224 range, and some 1-1/2" headers are all you need to make 1hp/cubic inch. Same goes for a 3.8, but to get a Regal to run low 15's, you'll need 3.42 gears and a 2800 actual converter. While a GN will stall a given converter at 3200, an N/A V6 might stall the same converter at 2500-2600. GB
