Burn marks on new bearing

I just opened one of my new rod bearings (clevite 77's) and one of them looks like there's burn residue on it, sorta like someone held a lighter to it. Has anyone ever seen that and is it okay? TIA. james

Like a blueish tint on them. Post a pic if you can and I'm sure you'll get an answer.

what is the part number??. if they are the competition series then they look that way because there is not a soft babbitt overlay. yes, they are ugly.:biggrin: post a pic. jeremy

They're Clevite ms960p's. One looks like someone held a lighter to it and it's got some black marking. I'm going to get another one (for $4 bucks why take the chance) but I'd still like to know if anyone knows what this is from. I'll post pics up when I get a chance. james
