Has anyone bought a major appliance online? My kitchen stove took a dump and needs to be replaced. I usually by my appliances from my local Sears after I find the lowest price in the area. While looking online it appears I can save 3 or 4 hundred dollars. A lot of places have free shipping and no sales tax as well a a much better price than Sears. One place, Sector 29, even with a 125 shipping charge was 300 bucks less than Sears. Anyone have any good suggestions or experiences??

I bought a large samsung HE washer and dryer in '07 from woot.com for about $1500 delivered. Turns out I got a cosmetically damaged one, which worked fine. and I saved about $700-800 from the prices everywhere else. Cross my fingers, they are still running well even though they are used multiple times daily (kids, cloth baby diapers etc...)

My brother and sil bought a washer, dryer, and some pedestals online. I ended up picking them up at the local ltl freight depot they were sent to as to have them delivered on a liftgate trailer was quite an extra fee. How do you plan to have them delivered? Free freight is one thing free delivery is another.

They saved several hundred dollars on the deal, I happened to be off work and saved them the trouble of picking them up.

Bought a new washer from homedepot.com last summer. Price in-store was $799.

Online it was on sale for $698, plus another 10% off because they were running a special on washers and dryers that week, plus another 5% back from ebates.com by linking via their website, plus free delivery and haul-away of the old washer. It cost me just under $600 for the $799 washer, and I saved another $100 or so on the delivery, just by ordering from HD's website instead of buying in the store. I don't claim to understand it, but it could be worth investigating. Also, a buddy was recently looking for a new fridge and Sears matched an amazing deal he found online.

Well, I took the plunge. I bought a range from Plesser's out of New York. WHAT A DEAL! Free shipping, no sales tax, and they beat what I thought was an unbelievable deal from another web site with their price match policy. So, for what would have cost me 1500 bucks at my local Sears, ended up costing me $989.00. I have just become a fan of online shopping, especially if I don't have to give any of my money to Uncle Sam!

Steve, Let us know when it arrives :)

I guess you have to hire some friends to bring it in?

I dont know if you have one near you, but Sears Outlet stores have beyond great deals on thnigs with a little damage. We bought all our new kitchen stuff from there. One item had no damage, because it was not wanted by the original buyer. Other stuff had a scrath or a small dent on the back of an appliance, where its not even seen. And no shipping costs.

Yes, they usually have great deals. That was one of the first places I checked, but, they did not have the particular model that the wife wanted. You know, keep them happy at any price, and life is much easier .
