eliminators and axles are both Moser. Is there a reason you say this?...thanks for the great find

I had 1 set of their axle/eliminator set ups...Immediately on install, 1 leaked. I pulled the axle out, and found that the seal was crushed when it was put together. I then called the dork at Moser, and was immediately accused of putting it in wrong...When I told him they were assembled at his shop,...dead silence. I asked for a pt # for the seal...Oh, they're "special made" and we can't tell you. They did send a new seal. The fun was having to make a puller to get the hokey a$$ed set up apart.
The next set was bought at Strange... Theirs is made so you can change the seal.
That ended that BS. Since that fiasco, we use Strange or Mark Williams.

the problem is usually the leak that would need a seal in the axle to fix is from the hub side through the bearing pack and not where the block bolts to the brake backer plate
if you have a leak at the hub side the bearing lube has left the bearings and a seal placed in the tube to stop the gear lube from leaking will starve the bearings , i know you cant leave the oil leak but starving the bearings and the elims will fail

only fix is remove and replace either with another moser elim or better fix is something else like the strange ..or forget all those and convert over to the ford style weld on axle end eliminators

and easiest way ive found to remove those mosers is to cut them off then score the inner race and split it with a cold chisel and it will slide off

Really caught in a hard spot now!!! What to do? Diff is ready to bolt in with all brand new parts! If I leak, I f up brand new (2) sets of shoes (both long) and ...?? GGrrrr. Guess bolt her in and see if she leaks and if she does pull her out and go to the Ford weld on ends.. (thanks PC) . WHat year fords would I be looking at?

by ford ends i dont mean parts from a ford
, its a generic term for an end that is similar to the ford with a bearing /seal and a retainer plate ,
60-early 70s gm had axles with similar ends
moser has ends that are ford style , like these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSR-7900/
you have to cut the tubes behind the backers and weld the ends on

just figured this out 10 sec ago with a GOOGLE search...sorry, my bad and thanks for the info

Not to be a pain but would you have a link to the ford housing I would need?...alot to choose from!
