I am looking to buy one in a few months. Best year? What should I pay? etc. thanks

It was 98 or 99 when they updated them. I like the look a whole lot better. I know ours(99, 53k miles) was apprasied for only 15k. Kinda crappy since it cost over 50k just a few years before. One thing to be on the look out for is an oil burning problem.
hope I was some help.

They updated the Northstar a few years ago and it will make the same HP as the older version but can do it with 87 octane. If you do a search you can probably find out which year it was.

The oil leak problems will never be solved with these cars. I know 'cause I sell the parts all day every day. Existing problems with all Northstar engines:

1- Crank sensors
2- Water pumps
3- Case 1/2 oil leaks
4- Stripped head bolt threads. (Heli-coil almost never works as a repair either.)
4- etc, etc.
