cam gear help

need some help guys. my cam sensor striped and allso striped my cam button or cam gear .replaced the cam sensor with a new unit. i couldnt find a cam button so i got a regular cam gear and had it machined to work with a billet roller cam .when i put it all together the car ran but it makes a loud grouwling
noise.could it be that the gear wasent machined correctly ? does any body know where to get a cam gear for a billet roller cam
